Class Descriptions

we guide you all the way…You’re unique, and therefore we treat all our students as individuals – our teachers always guide you towards a practice that is suitable to your strengths and limitations.

As we practice our Sequence for the season in all our classes, you can easily join any of our classes if you need to change around.

 


Yin Yoga

Time to Surrender – If you have never tried Yin Yoga you must give it a go. Slow in pace, but a guaranteed challenge for the mind. In this class we stretch deeply into the connective tissues, fascia, tendons and ligaments holding each pose for between 3-10 minutes, facilitating deep and body opening stretches. It is the opposite of our dynamic and challenging Hatha Flow. Yin aims to lengthen the muscles surrounding the hips, lower back and pelvis. In holding the poses for longer periods we also facilitate length in the connective tissues that surrounds the joints and increase flexibility. Yin yoga is perfect for injury prevention, joint health, it restores energy and calms the nervous system. Perfect for all sports people with tight muscles, dynamic yogi practitioners and those who just enjoy a good stretch.

 


Yin Yang

Yin Yang plays with balance between strength/flexibility, heating/cooling and active/relaxing.  In the beginning the class will be Yang based – more dynamic movement including sun salutations.  In the second half we will ease into a quiet and calming Yin practice where we hold postures at length.  A perfectly balanced class.

 


Hatha Flow

Hatha is the foundation of all physical yoga and the Flow incorporates a style where we move from pose to pose following the rhythm of the breath.  Suitable for beginners to students with yoga experience. It is a class that will explore the full range of what your body is capable of; working towards postures that will challenge your strength, flexibility and mind.  Every student is taught as an individual, making the most of our small class sizes.

 

 

 


Restorative & Relaxation

 

This is the class where we really slow it down.  We move deep into restorative postures, holding them for longer and assisted by props.
We finish the class with a guided relaxation  This class is suitable for all levels of experience, injuries and ailments.
Take this moment to slow it down – you won’t regret it!

Kids Yoga

Between the ages of 6 and 16. Fantastic for enhanced concentration, lowering stress, bettering heath and fitness and general balance and calmness; yoga is a proven benefit for children, teenagers and young adults. Excellent leveller for kids around exam time.

 


Pre-Natal Yoga

Pregnancy is a wonderful time in your life but it can also create challenges for body and mind.  Our prenatal yoga classes help you feel more comfortable, centered, fit and relaxed during your pregnancy.  At The Yoga House we focus on safe postures to strengthen you for the rest of your pregnancy, help ease your aches and pains and prepare your body for labor and delivery.  You will learn breathing techniques to improve sleep, reduce stress and calm your mind. Of course we will have enough time for deep relaxation.  So come and have a great time with your Baby and other pregnant women as you prepare for childbirth.  Feel free to stay for questions and a chat with your teacher after class.

 

 


Pre-School Yoga

Even little children benefit and enjoy Yoga.  Join our playful Pre-School Yoga for lots of yoga games, movement and great fun!
Suitable for children 3-5 years without parents.  Parents are welcome to participate if your child is feeling a little unsettled or just stay until both you and your child feel comfortable.
Minimum commitment is 5 weeks.

Mums & Bubs

Mums’n’Bubs Yoga offers you a practice to nurture yourself with an Asana practise that perfectly fits the needs of a new mum.

With a focus on:

Strengthening the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles

Releasing and strengthening the upper and lower back to support ante-natal recovery and provide relief from breastfeeding and carrying Baby.

Re-energizing and reducing fatigue

We also include a gentle massage and baby yoga practice to calm your baby, promote sleep and good digestion.

During the class you do, what feels right to you and your baby, if you need to stop to feed or to cuddle your baby, or to have a rest altogether, just do so. Listen to your body and start slowly and the two of you will greatly enjoy your yoga practice in no time at all.
